Dodgers’ Tanner Scott Removed From NLDS Roster Due To Abscess

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a significant roster change ahead of their National League Division Series matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies. Left-handed pitcher Tanner Scott has been removed from the roster due to a lower-body abscess that required a minor procedure on Wednesday night. MLB medical director Dr. Gary Green confirmed the validity of Scott’s injury, rendering him ineligible for the National League Championship Series if the Dodgers advance. However, there remains a possibility that Scott could return for the World Series, should the team progress that far.

Scott, 31, had been a key component of the Dodgers' bullpen throughout the season. He signed a four-year, $72 million contract during the offseason but faced challenges in his first year with the team, posting a 4.74 ERA and recording 23 saves over 61 appearances. His absence is notable, especially considering the Dodgers' current 2-1 lead in the best-of-five NLDS against the Phillies.

In response to Scott's removal, the Dodgers have added 25-year-old left-hander Justin Wrobleski to their postseason roster. Wrobleski, who has no prior postseason experience, finished the regular season with a 5-5 record and a 4.32 ERA over 24 appearances. His inclusion aims to bolster the bullpen as the team navigates the critical stages of the postseason.

The Dodgers' bullpen has faced scrutiny in recent games, particularly during Game 3 of the NLDS, where veteran Clayton Kershaw stepped in to relieve but struggled significantly. The addition of Wrobleski is seen as a strategic move to provide fresh arms and maintain the team's competitive edge in the high-stakes environment of the playoffs.

As the Dodgers prepare for the remainder of the NLDS, all eyes will be on how the bullpen adapts to these changes. The performance of Wrobleski and the overall effectiveness of the relief pitchers will be pivotal in determining the team's success as they aim to advance further in the postseason.
